Amaryllis chose to be a part of the beauty industry because of how she felt when she got her first set of acrylic nails in high school for her Junior Prom. She loved the way they made her feel, more feminine, pretty, and special.  Over the next couple of years, she found herself fascinated by the application of artificial nails. It was then she decided to go to school for Manicuring.

She went to school over 17 years ago. Since then, she has completed several education classes including:  Electric File Certification, Young Nails gel classes and many nail art classes.

Amaryllis specializes in pink and white acrylic, but mixes it up with color and glitter as well. She has found that her clients are her inspiration, because she loves that she can make her clients feel special and pampered just as she had felt at her prom.

Kailey’s natural creative ability and desire to make people feel better about themselves was her motive behind selecting a career in the beauty industry. She pursued her dream as a hair stylist nearly five years ago while finishing up her high school education. Anna’s interest in the beauty industry began at an early age. She entered into the professional field with a passion to make people feel good about themselves. The appeal of being able to be creative in day to day work, building close relationships with people, and having to power to decide how far and what direction this industry would take her were also very influential in career choice.

Anna offers a variety of services. She really enjoys hair color, whether it be a touch-up service or challenging corrective color. She also offers hair cutting services to men and women, men’s cuts really are a strong area for Anna. Also preforms waxing and chemistry conditioning services.

Anna attended cosmetology school here in Redding at the Shasta School of Cosmetology. She enrolled through the Regional Occupational Program offered though Foothill High School. Immediately after completing high school she graduated from cosmetology school and has been licensed since July 2006. Anna exclusively uses Redken. She has attended many classes to keep up on the latest technology and trends. The most noteworthy being the Redken Specialist Program consisting of 32 hours of instruction and hands on education on product knowledge, hair color, design (hair cutting), blow dry technique, and styling technique.

She seeks inspiration from many sources, whether it be energy gained from attended a class or seeing a look somewhere that caught her eye. She seeks inspiration in the seasons, new colors the Redken presents, as well as trends showing up in fashion week. She finds it fun and exciting to try something new and add her own spin to it.

Anna defines beauty as a feeling or an attitude, not an appearance. What makes someone truly beautiful is how they carry themselves and treat others, not some unrealistic duplicate of someone in a magazine that someone else has deemed pretty. Beauty is a person who lives their life while staying true to themselves.

Rebekah David is a local girl who pursued cosmetology as a second career choice after graduating from Redding’s Simpson University. In college she found a love for traveling and seeing other cultures and aesthetics. As inspiring as traveling is for anyone, it was realizing that the hair industry offers various creative outlets that drew Rebekah to this field. While living a short while in San Diego California, Rebekah decided to go through a cosmetology program and completed the it in 2008. Since then Rebekah has moved back to Redding where she started her practice at Hair City, receiving training by owner Mandi Kelly with Redken. In 2009 Rebekah was certified in New York City as a Redken Color Specialist. Coloring is a passion of hers because it inspires her to see hair form into more shapes and angles than a hair cut alone. “Coloring is where the window is opened and possibilities are endless”, says Rebekah.

One of Rebekah’s favorite services to preform on a client is a Formal Style. “Updo’s and Formal Hair Design are my specialty! I assume it must be from being a visual learner, either way I enjoy the bridal parties and prom girls; there is excitement in the air!” Rebekah explains. It is obvious that Hair Styling is her hobby and she is privileged to be doing what she loves for a living.

Rebekah tends to also be inspired by the connection she gets from getting to know each client individually. She enjoys the relationships that she makes with clients while seeing to their hair needs. After years of working one on one with teenagers at her local church, having a passion for encouragement no less carries through to her career as a Hair Stylist. “Being able to be an influence in a young woman’s life is very meaningful to my purpose as I personally know how much my mentors meant to me while I was growing up.”

Rebekah believes that her job helps her communicate to women that “beauty is from God”- Aristotle. She sees beauty and the beauty industry as the avenue in which she can compliment and encourage women with the inner and outside beauty each and every day. Aside from being a certified Redken Haircolorist, Rebekah’s opportunity to encourage women about their beauty is her most important achievement.

Summer Rowley chose the Beauty industry because she has a passion for fashion! Becoming a licensed professional hair stylist was summer’s dream, she absolutely loves doing hair and helping clients feel great about their look. Some of her speciality’s include up-do’s and formal styles, along with hair cutting and color.

Summer has been licensed professionally and working as a Hair Stylist since June 2005. Continuing her education in the hair industry is very important to her, she has traveled to New York to attend the REDKEN Exchange, and Las Vegas Symposium to further her knowledge and skill’s in the industry. She want’s her client’s to feel confident in the service she is providing along with having a relaxing enjoyable time.

Her inspiration comes from things she see’s, could be from a magazine, a photograph or even your every day girl walking down the street. A lot of the trends over the years come and go, and then they come back again! She loves to see things that her mother or grandmother wore or did to their hair, and then young women wear them today but with a twist or an extra flare. Summer believes that beauty is what you make it, it can be old or new or borrowed from another era, you just have to seek out what you like and go for it!
